BCAMP represents BC’s medical physicists
The British Columbia Association of Medical Physicists is the professional organization representing medical physicists working or training in clinical, academic, or industry settings in British Columbia, Canada.
BCAMP is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization registered under the BC Societies Act.
Medical physicists are essential health care workers
Most medical physicists in BC are employed by public health authorities. These health care workers ensure that radiation therapy treatments are delivered safely, reliably, and efficiently, or that our essential diagnostic imaging systems (CTs and MRIs) produce trustworthy images. They also do research to develop technologies and techniques that use radiation to improve diagnoses and treatments. Other medical physicists work in the academic or private sectors to do this research and development.
Medical physicists typically have a graduate degree in physics or medical physics, and may have additional clinical training depending on their employment.
